Project Description: The scope of work consists of seismic retrofit of the Waiale Gulch, Alae, and Pulehu Gulch Bridges. Improvements include removal of debris from the piers; wrapping the piers with carbon fiber, removal of a portion of the backfill from behind the abutments and backfilling with controlled low strength material (CLSM) and tying the abutment to the CLSM backfill; replacement of the creep blocks at the bents; pier footing upgrades; installing pavement; installing pavement markers and temporary erosion control measures; installing scour countermeasures near Alae Bridge Pier 1; and traffic control.
