Project Description:
Provide all labor necessary to repair the cooling tower as indicated in the plans and
specifications. The proposed work shall generally include removal, disposal and
replacement of the fan wheels, shaft and bearings per manufacturer’s specifications.
Start-up the tower per manufacturer’s recommendations and perform system checks to
confirm proper operations. Submit all data collected to the university of Hawaii
facilities management office, attention: Carl Oshiro prior to request for final
inspection. All work located at Holmes Hall Building, UHM.

Special Instructions
ALL bidders are requested to attend a mandatory site walk-through. A site walk through is
scheduled for 9:00am on Wednesday September 9, 2026. Contractors shall meet at the
Physical Plant Mechanical Engineer Office located at 2002 East- West Road. Contract
documents will be distributed at the mandatory walk through. Contractors interested in
bidding this work must contact Carl Oshiro through email ( coshiro6@hawaii.edu), facsimile
(956-5979) or phone (956-0479) to confirm attendance by 4:00 p.m. Tuesday September 8,
2026. Contractors who DO NOT attend a mandatory site walk-through will not be allowed to
bid on this work. Contractor is required to provide a cost breakdown at time of bid. The
breakdown must equal to the total cost of the bid. If correct breakdown is not provided at
time of bid, the bid may be disqualified.
