Project Description: The Komohana Research and Extension Center is requesting quotes for a towable hydraulic feed wood chipper with the following minimum specifications. Vendors are encouraged to propose models that meet or exceed these specifications within the stated budget.

Required Specifications:
Chipping capacity: Minimum 5-inch diameter for wood and branches

Feed system: Dual hydraulic rollers or an equivalent high-performance hydraulic feed system

Engine power: Minimum 20 hp gas-powered engine with electric start (EFI preferred but not required)

Towable design: Highway-towable with appropriate tires and a 2\" ball hitch (DOT- compliant)

Discharge system: Adjustable discharge chute with 360° rotation or equivalent

Infeed hopper: Large opening to accommodate bushy branches and limbs (approx. 24\" x 30\" or larger)

Rotor system: Heavy-duty disc or drum rotor with at least 2 reversible knives

Safety features: Emergency stop or safety control bar, operator presence system

Construction: Commercial-grade frame designed for regular field use

Drive system: Belt drive or similar with centrifugal clutch

Fuel and hydraulic capacity: Fuel tank of at least 6 gallons; hydraulic system of at least 5 gallons

Weight and size: Total weight should not exceed 2,000 lbs for easy towing with a standard pickup truck

Preferred Features (Not Required):

Onboard diagnostic system (e.g., digital performance monitoring)

Oversized rotor for better performance and durability

Integrated twig breaker or similar debris management system

Low-maintenance design for ease of operation

Warranty:

Vendor must provide warranty details for both the chipper unit and the engine separately. A minimum 2-year commercial warranty on the chipper is preferred. Warranty terms for the engine should be clearly outlined according to the engine manufacturer\'s policy.

Quote validity: Quotes must be valid for a period of 90 days from the date of submission.
