Project Description:
(12) A. General Pest Maintenance at the Waikiki Aquarium and surrounding landscape areas:
a. Work shall include, but not be limited to:
i. Application of insecticidal spray and/or granule to the building exterior.
ii. Bait in the form of discs, gels and/or dust to harborage areas of infestations.
iii. Using flushing agents and residual insecticidal sprays in conjunction with baits for various interior areas including, but not limited to:
1. Aquarium Galleries
2. Gift Shop
3. Main Entry/Foyer
4. Restrooms
5. Hallways
6. Interior and Exterior Utility/Storage Areas
7. Interior and Exterior Dining and Food Prep Areas
8. Resident’s Room
9. Staff Offices
Application rates shall be per manufacturer\\\'s recommendations.
iv. Mitigate risks such as by applying insecticidal sprays and baits in locations that will not impact or otherwise affect health and safety of staff, guests or marine life.
v. Manage pest activity on property: Immediately report any signs of infestation or increased pest activity to the Facilities Maintenance office.
(12) Exterior Rodent Bait Station Placement & Maintenance for the Waikiki Aquarium and surrounding landscape areas:
a. Contractor to provide and install all NEW bait stations. Bait stations to be secured and require manufacturer’s key to open. All bait stations located in publicly visible areas shall be “landscape style” bait stations. Distance between stations not to exceed rodenticide manufacturer’s maximum distance for rats. Dosage at each station shall be maintained at rodenticide manufacturer’s recommendations for rats.
b. Contractor to label each bait station with a unique identifying code on the visible exterior which shall correspond to label on agreed upon map of locations. Contractor to submit & review written “Service & Activity Log” for each bait station upon completion of each service.
c. Contractor to provide interior Rodent trapping as deemed necessary by WAQ based on sightings/findings on an “As Needed” basis. Contractor to provide humane trapping devices and daily monitoring while deployed.
d. Contractor to remove any rodent (living or expired) discovered on the premises and dispose of such at an offsite location.
(12) Fire Ant Pest Control at the Waikiki Aquarium lawns and surrounding landscape areas:
a)work shall include, but not limited to:
i)application of insecticidal spray and /or granule to lawn areas.
ii)Using flushing agents and residual insecticidal sprays in conjunction with granules for various surrounding areas including but not limited to:
1)Edge of the Reef
2)Coral Farm
3)Stage
4)Storage units
*Application rates shall be per manufacturer\\\'s recommendations.
iii)Mitigate risks such as by applying insecticidal sprays and granules in locations that will not impact or otherwise affect the health and safety of the staff, guests or animals of the Waikiki Aquarium.
iv)Manage fire ant activity on the property; immediately report any signs of infestation or increased pest activity to the Facilities Maintenance Office.
Provide Warranty, Free & Unlimited Service Calls for all services. Contractor must maintain a 24-hours a day, 7-days a week service call center to receive and schedule all service calls.
Contractor must respond to service calls by 12:00pm of the following day after a service call is received.
Special Instructions
Under HRs 103D-310(c), vendors MUST provide proof of compliance with all laws governing entities doing business in the State of Hawaii. Vendors need to obtain a copy of their “Certificate of Vendor Compliance” via Hawaii compliance Express and attach it to their bid. Information and requirements for the “Certificate of Compliance” can be found at: https://vendors.ehawaii.gov/hce/splash/welcome.html Vendor\\\'s current status must be listed as “COMPLIANT” by the closing date of the bid and through the issuance of the purchase order.
1)Upon award, vendor must provide Certificate of Liability Insurance, listing the University of Hawaii as Additional Insured and fill out and sign the Caterer/Vendor/Exhibitor/Third Party Entity Agreement. For more information regarding insurance requirements, see attachments.
2)Staff assigned to account must be fully trained (with required certifications for “Restricted Use” products as required by law) and wear an identifiable company uniform and ID badge at all times. The contractor shall run criminal background checks of all assigned staff. The University reserves the right to request changes to staff assigned should there be issues that arise regarding job performance, expectations, etc.
3)Contractor is responsible for abiding by all City, State, Federal laws and University Policies.
4)For all services, technicians are required to sign in & out with the Facilities Maintenance Office prior to and at completion of all services. Contractor shall contact the Facilities Maintenance Office a MINIMUM of 5 business days prior to any change in regularly scheduled service day (monthly)
5)Contractor is responsible for ensuring that all bait stations are maintained and installed properly. Contractor is responsible for applying insecticides and baits properly and in accordance with industry and manufacturers\\\' standards.
6)Work hours 6:00am - 9:00am Monday through Sunday in all public areas. Work taking place in staff offices may be planned between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm with prior approval. Contractor shall provide the University with a project schedule and estimated earliest start date. Contract term is June 1 through May 31, 2026.
7)The Contractor shall submit to WAQ progress reports each day a service is rendered.
8)Contractor shall refrain from engaging in any form of contact, interaction, photography, filming, etc. with and/or of any and all lifeforms existing within the WAQ property.
9)Contractor responsible for protecting all adjacent Aquarium and Neighboring property, buildings, utilities, grounds and trees. Any damage shall be repaired by the Contractor.
10)Contractor is responsible for removing all trash and other waste resulting from its operation during this project to an off-site location for disposal. No waste shall be deposited onsite. Contractor shall be subject to any and all fines imposed upon the University by the contracted waste disposal company for any and all waste deposited in onsite dumpsters without having first obtained written permission to do so from the University.
